The 1989 movie Batman was based on the legendary DC Comics character. It was directed by Tim Burton and starred Michael Keaton as Bruce Wayne / Batman and Jack Nicholson as Jack Napier / The Joker. The story follows Batman as he begins his war on crime with his first major enemy being the clownishly homicidal Joker, who is terrorizing “Gotham City”. In order to defeat this enemy, Batman uses a potent vehicle: the Batmobile, which has a jet turbine engine and a variety of high-tech gadgets and weapons. The Batmobile, which cost several million dollars to develop, was built on a Chevrolet Impala chassis.
