Built by Fokker, F-104G Starfighter 683D-8044 made its maiden flight on April 16 1963. On July 8, 1963 the aircraft was assigned to JG 71 "Richthofen" at Wittmund AB as JA+240. On August 15, 1967 during a landing in marginal weather JA+240 went off the runway, breaking all landing gear and flipping over. The pilot was not injured in the accident. The aircraft had only 438 flight hours at the time but the damage was too costly to repair so it became an instructional air frame.
The Lockheed F-104 Starfighter was a single-engine, supersonic interceptor aircraft that served with the US Air Force from 1958 until 1967. In the Vietnam War the Starfighter was used in the air support role. Although Starfighters saw little aerial combat and scored no air-to-air victories they were successful in deterring MiG interceptors.
Hobby Master offers a wide selection of quality, pre-assembled, diecast model airplanes. Each model is crafted to a high level of accuracy using specifications of the original aircraft. They are constructed with precision-made diecast metal and some plastic components.
