Bullitt is a 1968 film that starred Steve McQueen as San Francisco Police Lt. Frank Bullitt. This critically acclaimed action film is best remembered for the high speed car chase scene through the streets of San Francisco with Lt Bullitt driving a 1968 Ford Mustang GT pursuing hitmen in a 1968 Dodge Charger RT. Two Mustangs' and two Chargers' were used in filming the scene. The Mustangs engines, brakes and suspensions were heavily modified. The Chargers' engines were left largely unmodified, but the suspensions were slightly upgraded to cope with the demands of the stunt work.
