Gremlins is a 1984 horror / comedy film that stars Zach Galligan as Billy Peltzer and Hoyt Axton as Randall Peltzer (Billy's father). In the film, Billy receives a small creature, called a Mogwai, as a Christmas present from his father. He is given three specific instructions for taking care of his new pet: never expose it to bright light (especially sunlight, which will kill it), never let it get wet (that will cause it to multiply), and most importantly: no matter how much it cries or begs, never feed it after midnight. Billy inadvertently breaks two of the three rules and unleashes a horde of small, destructive, monsters on the small town of Kingston Falls.
