The GMC New Look Transit Coach (nicknamed "Fishbowl" for its six-piece rounded windshield) was introduced in 1959. U.S. production ceased in 1977, when it was replaced by the RTS bus. 44,484 new look buses were built over the production lifespan, of which 33,413 were built in the U.S. and 11,071 in Canada, where production continued until 1986. The New Look's production figures and long service career made it the iconic North American transit bus.
