Credited with seven German fighters destroyed, Captain Edwin O. Fisher was one of only three aces created by the 362nd FG. He claimed five victories flying P-47D razorbacks before gaining his final two kills (both Bf 109s) in this aircraft on August 9, 1944.
Affectionately nicknamed "Jug", the P-47 was one of the most famous USAAF fighter planes of WWII. The P-47 made its first flight in May 1941, and in March 1942 the first production model was delivered. By the end of the war, Republic Aviation Corp. had built more than 15,600 P-47s
