Corgi released the first Simon Snorkel fire engine model in 1964. It had a Bedford chassis and was made in 1:48 scale. Over 1,163,000 pieces were sold over a twelve-year period. Later, in 1977, a replacement model on a Dennis chassis came out, costing £82,000 to design, tool and develop - it sold over 173,000 pieces. Altogether a stunning model of the Simon Snorkel with SS263 Hydraulic Platform which was launched in 1973 and evolved into today's Aerial Ladder.
The Corgi "Heroes Under Fire" range includes high quality, ready-made, diecast models of fire and rescue apparatus. Every model is crafted using specifications of the original vehicle. They are made with diecast metal and some plastic components.
