Limited Edition of 1000 Models Worldwide
Junkers Ju 52/3m D-CDLH is painted as D-AQUI in historic Lufthansa colors (the paint scheme the aircraft wore in 1936). To improve performance it had Pratt & Whitney engines installed and was fitted with 3-bladed propellers. In 1984, Lufthansa purchased the Ju 52 from a private owner in the USA and brought it back to Germany. With its original registration ‘D-CDLH’, this Ju 52 is flown today by Lufthansa for pleasure flights around Europe, giving airplane enthusiasts a taste of 1930s air travel.
The Junkers Ju 52 was a German tri-motor transport aircraft that was used for both civilian and military service. First flown in October 1930, the Ju 52 was developed primarily as a passenger airliner and cargo aircraft. In civilian use the Ju 52 flew with many air carriers including Swissair and Deutsche Lufthansa. In the military role, it was used by the Luftwaffe as a troop and cargo transport aircraft and briefly as a medium bomber. The Ju 52 continued in service after the war with military and civilian air fleets. The Swiss Air Force operated the aircraft from 1939 to 1982 when three aircraft remained in operation.
The Corgi Aviation Archive features a wide selection of high quality, ready-made, diecast model airplanes. Each model is crafted with meticulous attention to detail, using specifications of the original aircraft. Corgi models are built with diecast metal and some plastic components.
