Hawker Hunter FR.10 XE585 was delivered to No. 4 Squadron at RAF Gutersloh, Germany, in November 1960, and in 1968 was allocated to Squadron Leader A. J. Hopkins. This squadron was tasked with patrolling the Berlin corridor and providing reconnaissance photographs during the cold war years.
The Hawker Hunter was a British jet fighter aircraft which entered service with the RAF in July 1954. The Hunter FR.10 was the tactical reconnaissance version.
